I started this blog at age 30. If you’re reading this in 2014, I’m still 30. I’m a lawyer, a fitness enthusiast, a wife, a friend, and a daughter. My goal is to be the best person I can be, not just for myself but for everyone around me. I’m at that point in my life where I think I’m ready to start building a family. As a woman in the modern world, I don’t know if it’s going to be that easy to maintain “having it all,” but that’s my goal.
I feel like things have changed quite a bit for women today. According to the Department of Labor, as of 2013, 57.2 percent of working-age women make up the work-force in the U.S., compared to 69.7 percent of working-age men. Of that 57.2 percent of women in the work-force, 69.9 percent of them have children under age 18! Despite this, there seems to be an expectation that women “do it all,” especially in heterosexual relationships. That’s not to say there isn’t some give and take and that men are in fact taking on more “domestic” roles, but societal pressure is still there for women and I feel it!
Laying roots and making my mark on the world will certainly have its challenges. This is my space to contemplate and figure out how to balance it all, while hopefully providing enjoyable, perhaps thought-provoking,and helpful ideas and experiences with others. Thanks for coming by!
